Calculate Zakat owed on gold — bars, coins, or jewelry — once your
holdings reach the nisab threshold and have been held for one lunar
year (hawl).
How it's calculated
Nisab: 85 grams of gold (some scholars use 87.48g — see the nisab reference page).
Below nisab, no Zakat is due.
At or above nisab, Zakat is 2.5% of the total gold value.
Jewelry: if you follow the Hanafi position, it's included regardless of use. If you follow the Maliki, Shafi'i, or Hanbali position, worn jewelry in reasonable, customary amounts is exempt.
Gold must have been held for one full lunar year (hawl) to be zakatable.
This calculator applies the standard nisab and rate; it does not
replace guidance from a qualified scholar, particularly on the
jewelry question, mixed holdings, or your specific hawl date. If
you're unsure which opinion to follow, consult a scholar or your
local mosque.
